General Info:
The location and the Village


Aruba is 19.6 miles long and 6 miles across and totaling 77 square miles or 193 square kilometers. Aruba is located 12° 30' North Latitude; 70° West Latitude; 19 miles or 31 km north of the Venezuelan coast. The spot on Aruba is called Fishermans hut. click for larger version



The seasons and Hotel info


The best months to visit Aruba are the most windiest months, between January and September. The trade wind avarege in these months is between 17 and 28 knots. From October to November the wind is a littlebit weaker, between 11 and 19 knots.

An avarage two star hotel will cost you AWG 143 and a vife star AWG 620 (1 euro = 2,4 AGW).

Climate


The Aruban climate has a little variation from yearly average of a sunny 81°F or 27°C tempered by northeasterly trade winds. Aruba is out of the range of the Caribbean hurricanes. It almost never rains longer than ten minutes.



Spot conditions:
The beach


The beach is a white powder sand beach (not big), but here and there are some rocks and shells.. Kite surfing at the fisherman's Hut is only allowed from 8:00am till 10:30am and from 16:00pm till 18:30pm. click for larger version


The water conditions


The water is flat and shallow (only passing hurricanes produce nice surfing waves that are right hand breaks). The avarage water temperature is 23°C/74°F. You dont need a wetsuit. click for larger version


Watch out for reef, rocks, stones or shells. There are some boats in the water, so watch out!



The wind conditions


The trade winds on Aruba blow the whole year. Because Aruba is not so big you can kite with onshore and offshore winds. Between januari and September the wind is the most powerfull. On Fisermans Hut the wind blows from the east and is offshore (a bit gusty).



Facilities


Only in the high season (November until Easter ) you need to reserve a rental car. Otherwise there are buses going from downtown to the hotel area and minibuses to any destination. Of course you can rent Scooters, Squats, horses and bikes as well. click for larger version

There is a kitesurfshop on Aruba. There are two schools on the spot and it is possible to rent gear. There is a rescue (20US dollar) because of the off shore wind on the spot. There are no facilities like toilets, showers or a place for food.



Downwinder and trip possibilites


For the more experienced kiters there is the opportunity to go to the spots Arashi or Boca Grandi. Arashi is a beautiful spot at the North of the island near the light house. Arashi's flat water and sometimes there are small waves. Boca Grandi is a half moon bay shaped with onshore winds, hits and ramps on the inside and out side bigger waves. Boca Grandi is the favourite spot for the locals and can be crowded in the weekend. click for larger version
